Choosing First Year Courses-Exploration Courses

Following is a list of exploratory courses students can "try" to learn if they have an interest in the subject area. We encourage deciding students to enroll in one exploration course each semester in addition to their ACE requirements.

  • Accounting: ACCT 201 (sophomore status)
  • Actuarial Science: MATH 106 (Note: ACTS courses are 400-level courses. Students complete the calculus sequence and several upper-level statistics courses before actually enrolling in ACTS courses. Students need appropriate math placement exam score to enroll in Math 106)
  • Advertising and Public Relations: JOMC 101

  • Agricultural Economics: AGRI 103 or AECN141
  • Agricultural Education (7-12): AGRI 103
  • Agricultural Engineering AGEN 100

  • Animal Science: ASCI 100 or ASCI 101

  • Applied Science: AGRI 103
  • Architecture: students can take AHIS 102 OR ARCH 106.  Other ARCH courses require students to be in the ARCH college
  • Art: AHIS 101 or AHIS 102 (registration into studio courses which apply toward the major require admission into the program)
  • Art History: AHIS 101 or AHIS 102
  • Athletic Training Education: ATHT 145 (fall only)
  • Biochemistry or Biological Chemistry: BIOC101 or BIOS 102 or CHEM 109
  • Biological Sciences: BIOS 101 (Note: BIOS 101 applies to the major as elective only), or BIOS 102, or BIOS 103
  • Biological Systems Engineering: BSEN 100
