Once admitted, the next thing new transfer students want to know is how their credits have transferred and how they will be applied to the UNL degree. There are many factors that contribute to this determination. Students who transfer from an accredited institution in the United States are assured that the college credits earned will transfer and count toward class standing. In Exploratory and Pre-Professional Advising, however, cannot specify how credits presented for transfer will apply toward the UNL degree as this determination is made by the UNL college that awards the student their degree

While students are in EPP, advisers help transfer students learn the requirements for their intended degree and help students meet with the appropriate professionals to address transfer credit issues.

Students transferring from an institution in the United States or abroad that has an articulation agreement with UNL can view the transfer course information on the Transfer Course Equivalency website to learn how the courses at a specific institution equate to UNL courses. Students transferring credit from international institutions will need to have credit reviewed prior to any credit hours appearing on their UNL record. This is a process that must be initiated by the student. Please review the instructions for Department Evaluation of Transfer Credit. There are many issues surrounding transferring credit.
