Pre-law is not a major and therefore does not grant a baccalaureate degree. Students can choose any major offered at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln while also studying pre-law.

Build a Competitive Edge for Law School Admission
At Nebraska, students work with Explore Center advisors throughout their undergraduate experience to build a strong, well-rounded application. Through ongoing guidance, workshops and networking opportunities with visiting law school representatives, students gain the preparation needed for the application process.
LSAT Preparation
The Explore Center partners with LSAC and test preparation providers to offer free or discounted practice LSATs, alongside expert workshops focused on argument evaluation and reading comprehension to help students prepare for the exam.

Students can meet individually with representatives from law schools, including Nebraska Law, to gain insight into the application process, receive feedback and ask questions about next steps.

Intro to Law/Legal Professions (CASC 140)
Introduction to principles of reasoning and their application, with emphasis on critical thinking, analyzing and evaluating arguments and constructing sound arguments.
Writing for Change (ENGL 151)
Intensive writing course focused on using writing as a tool for argument and developing projects for multiple purposes and audiences.
Communication, Advocacy and Global Citizenship (COMM 220)
Overview of advocacy and civic engagement principles, with emphasis on global considerations in local contexts. Students develop advocacy projects using narrative storytelling.
Introduction to Logic and Critical Thinking (PHIL 110)
Introduction to principles of correct reasoning and their application, with emphasis on critical thinking, analyzing and evaluating arguments objectively and constructing sound arguments.
And Justice for All: Race, Gender and the Law in U.S History (HIST 115)
Survey of major Supreme Court cases addressing race, class and gender in U.S. history to provide context for current legal issues.
Common Law in Contemporary Society (BLAW 375)
Examination of the court system, sources of law and the three major areas of common law: torts, contracts and property.
