MCAT Workshop

The MCAT is an important part of your application to medical school. We’ll review the content of the exam, discuss considerations for when to take it, and share preparation strategies and resources.

Applying to Health Schools 101

Are you planning to apply to a professional health school in the next couple of years? Even if you are in your first or second year of college, it is important that you learn about the steps in the application process and what you can do now to prepare to submit your best application. This workshop will not cover information about applying to nursing school, radiography programs, or dental hygiene programs.

Gap Year for Pre-Health Students

If you have considered taking a gap year before starting your professional health program but have questions, this workshop is for you. At this workshop, we will discuss many aspects of the gap year, including what to do during your gap year(s), why you might consider taking a gap year, and what important questions you may want to start researching now to make sure your gap year helps you accomplish your career goals.

GRE Preparation for Health School Applications 

If the GRE is required for admission to your professional health program, join us for a one-hour overview of the exam. We will cover the format of the GRE, outline timelines for studying for and taking the exam, and share helpful resources and advice on preparing to take the GRE.

Essays for Health School Applications

What are professional school admissions committees looking for in your application essay? Learn how to write a strong application essay for health schools and, with help from the UNL Writing Center, start drafting some ideas to get started on your essay.

UNMC Nursing Application Session

A Student Services Coordinator from UNMC Nursing will provide a detailed overview of the application components to UNMC’s Nursing program. This workshop is helpful for those applying this Spring/Summer and is an excellent opportunity to ask questions about the application process. This session will be offered three times this semester. Choose the time that works best for you.

Researching, Budgeting, & Financing, Your Health School Education

Deciding where to go for professional health school and how much you would like to spend on that education is a process that requires time and research. Jump start your planning efforts by attending this workshop to gain valuable tools and insight you can use to strategize where to apply to professional health school and how to apply efficiently and save money in the process. This session will also help you to start thinking about how you can prepare financially for your advanced education and learn about programs available to help you pay for professional health school educational costs.

AMCAS Application Info Session

If you will be applying to medical school this summer or fall, this workshop will cover all of the aspects of your AMCAS application. We will have plenty of time for your questions so that you can hit the ground running when you start your application.
